Service Description

Movement that teaches you how your body actually works. Functional Foundations is an intelligent, accessible yoga class focused on building strength, mobility, and balance that translate into everyday life. This is yoga for longevity — designed to help you feel strong, stable, and capable in your body, not just now, but for years to come. What to expect Classes move at a steady, considered pace, with time to explore how your body moves rather than rushing through shapes. We work with key yoga postures and transitions, using clear alignment cues alongside the freedom to adapt movements to suit your individual structure. The emphasis is on understanding, not imitation. You’ll explore functional movement patterns that carry off the mat, building strength, stability and balance. Options are always offered — to increase challenge or keep things accessible — so the practice can meet you where you are while still supporting progression. This isn’t about achieving perfect poses. It’s about developing body awareness, sustainable strength, and confidence in how you move. This practice may be for you if… * you’re new to yoga and want to build a solid, informed foundation * you’ve practised for years and want to refine alignment and movement quality * you value clear teaching and thoughtful pacing * you’re interested in movement that supports your body long-term, not just in the moment Whether you’re 25 or 65, this is practice designed to support you in moving well through life. How you’ll leave More grounded. More confident in your movement. Better equipped for the demands of daily life. Practical note on access Please note: the studio is located on the first floor and accessed via stairs only. Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair access at present, and attendees must be able to independently ascend and descend the stairway.
